Function of Beauty Now Available At Target

Function of Beauty Now Available At Target

You’ve probably seen Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner on various social media ads. These super Instagram-able, customizable shampoo and conditioners focus on your specific “hair goals”. On the Function of Beauty website, you can take a short survey to determine your own personalized formula by picking your hair type and problems you want to target such as brasiness, moisturize, and etc.
The price of the shampoo and conditioner duo is $9.99 (each). You can also customize the color of your shampoo/conditioner as well as the scent.

For those who’ve been wanting to try the Function of Beauty hair system (me!) but didn’t want to pay the $29 - $49 price tag or get looped into a subscription system (also me!) the line has arrived at Target!
The shampoo and conditioners are priced at $9.99 each. You can choose the shampoo/conditioner based on your hair type - straight, curly, wavy, and coily. From there, you can pick your #hairgoal boosters to add to your shampoo and conditioner. Target’s website states you can add up to 3 boosters. Boosters include anti-frizz, strengthen, lengthen, volumize, deep condition, shine, color protection, soothe scalp, thermal production, and curl definition.
While the Function of Beauty website has more options and customization abilities, the Target line makes it readily available for customers who’ve wanting to try out the brand.

As I said earlier in the post, I’ve seen the various Instagram ads and the customizability of Function of Beauty. When the line became available at Target, I went straight to the website and ordered some products for curbside pick-up.
I purchased the shampoo and conditioner for straight hair. For my #HairGoal boosters I picked volumize, strengthen, and smooth scalp. My current hair issues are oily scalp, dry ends, a little bit of breakage, and my hair always lays flat. I’m hoping that these boosters can help add some volume to my hair and fix my oily scalp.
Once I got home, I added the soothe scalp and volumize boosters into my shampoo, and the strengthen booster into my conditioner. I didn’t want to add all 3 boosters into the shampoo because the consistency looked a bit thick. After shaking each bottle for 15 seconds each (per instruction) the shampoo and conditioner are ready for use.

My Experience So Far

With my new pretty blue bottles, I stepped into the shower ready for a hair transformation. The shampoo lathers up nicely and I didn’t need to use too much. The conditioner’s consistency is thinner than the shampoo, maybe because I only put one booster in there but I liked that it was lighter. I let my hair air dry afterward and noticed my hair had a bit more volume! I also noticed my scalp felt a bit itchy. Not sure if it has to do with switching to a new shampoo or maybe it’s the boosters but I’ve never experienced an itchy scalp when I switch shampoos. Nonetheless, I liked that my hair had more volume in it after the first wash.

First Impression

I like that we now have the ability to try the Function of Beauty line at home without the need to sign up for a subscription. It’s also nice to have the #HairGoal #booster to help customize your shampoo and conditioner. So far, I liked that my hair has a bit more volume after the first wash. I didn’t like that it made my scalp itchy and will keep an eye on if that continues.

Check back for my detailed review on the Function of Beauty for Target. I’ll be using this system for the next few weeks to see if I achieve my hair goals.
