DreamWorks Theater High Kicks Into Universal Studios Hollywood

DreamWorks Theater High Kicks Into Universal Studios Hollywood

Kung Fu! Dragon Warriors! Fireworks! Universal Studios Hollywood pulled out all the stops for the grand opening of DreamWorks Theatre, featuring "Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor's Quest". The red carpet was rolled out for a parade of dancing lions, fan dancers, and of course, the beloved characters of DreamWorks Animation. The star of the show, dragon warrior Po was featured front and center showing off his martial arts and dancing skills.
The attraction will open to the public on Friday, June 15th, 2018 but Geek & Glitter were invited for a first look.

The opening ceremony was bright, colorful, and fun which reflects the attraction and the animation of DreamWorks. "Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor's Quest" is the first attraction to open at Universal Studios Hollywood since the recent acquisition of DreamWorks Animation.

The theater design is inspired by the Golden Ages of Hollywood's Art Deco period. There's even a ticket booth at the entrance featuring a very sleep Pinocchio. As you venture further into the line queue, you'll see tons of movie posters paying homage to DreamWorks Animation Films. Inside the lobby, you'll see over 20 award statuettes representing various awards DreamWorks Animations has received in the past. There's also a display of Kung Fu Panda characters and magical artifacts from the Spirit Realm.

"Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor's Quest" takes you on a journey with dragon warrior Po, who is on a mission to deliver the precious Liquid of Limitless Power to the Palace. You'll encounter pirates, rapids, magic, and of course, Kung Fu!

This attraction has some of the best and most precise projection-mapping I've seen, to the point where I had to make a double take to see if the "pillars" in the theater were real or not. There's 360 surround sound, water and wind effects to make you feel as if you're a part of the adventure, and let's talk about the seats. These seats fully articulate which means they swivel and pivot along with the action make the experience extra fun.

I'm thrilled to see Universal Studios Hollywood utilizing cutting-edge technology in this new attraction. We see the Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle using a similar technology, it's no wonder USH will want to apply it to their newest attraction.

"Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor's Quest" is a welcoming addition to the theme park and perfect for all ages. Scroll throught the carosel below for photos from the first look event.
