Style Geek: Aladdin World Premiere
Disney’s live-action Aladdin is now in theaters - starring Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith as the Genie. I was lucky to be invited to the premiere in Los Angeles, and of course I had to dress to the theme.
I originally wanted to wear an teal off-shoulder dress or jumpsuit as a nod to Princess Jasmine’s iconic outfit from the 1992 animated feature. But I thought everyone will probably be planning to do the same thing. Add that with not having any luck in finding exactly what I wanted, I gave up on that idea and decided to look for something in my closet.
I have a gorgeous gold dress by Ralph Lauren that I purchased for "The Last Jedi” premiere. It caught my eye because of it’s unique shoulder details that reminded me of Rey’s costume from the movie. So while it is a “recycled” look, I thought the shoulder details could also play to the them and it can look like a different outfit by adding accessories.
And what better accessories than my own person Magic Carpet? Prior to the release of the live-action Aladdin, Hot Topic was selling a ton of Aladdin themed items. One of them being a Magic Carpet scarf/shawl! It’s super soft and while I never got to wear it in the winter time, I definitely brought this with me to the premiere.
For jewelry, I kept it simple with a snake bracelet and Princess Jasmine inspired dangling earrings.
It’s All In The Details:
I couldn’t help getting Jasmine themed manicure. I chose a shimmery teal and added gold jewels to the thumb and a feather design on the ring fingers.
The premiere was a magical experience and I really enjoyed creating an outfit for the night out.
Who is your favorite from Aladdin? If you were to style a red carpet look based on Aladdin, which character would be your inspiration?
