Colourpop Cosmetics x Mulan Collection Review

Colourpop Cosmetics x Mulan Collection Review

It seems like forever ago when I ordered the Mulan eyeshadow palette and Face Kit from Colourpop Cosmetics. Delivery was delayed due to the pandemic, though it’s not like I’m wearing a full face of makeup these days. However, finally seeing the Colourpop box at my doorstep put a huge smile on my face. I love the packaging for this collection - adorn in red with gold writing and flower accents on the outer boxes, perfectly in theme with Mulan’s soldier costume from the movie.

MULAN EYESHADOW PALETTE

The Mulan pressed powder eyeshadow palette comes with 15 shades in a variety of nudes, brown, red, and gold hues in glitter, shimmer, and matte. Initially, I was worried about the glitter shades would have too much chunky fallout, but these shades are so buttery soft and blends really well. Whenever I wear glitter shadow, I usually use a primer and experienced very little to no fallout with these shades. I find this palette really versatile - you can create a natural day look or glam it up for a night out.
One of the things I wish this palette had was a mirror. On the inside cover, an illustration of Mulan and the Chinese words “Loyal” “Brave” and “True” are shown. I would have love to see a mirror included in this palette as it would make it the perfect traveling palette due to its slim size and lightweight.

BRAVE FACE MILK & LIP MASK BUNDLE

I couldn’t resist this skin care bundle. It might sound silly but I look foward to my nighttime skincare routine. Massaging a serum or ampoule into my clean skin is always so relaxing. This bundle comes with the Fourth Ray Jasmine Face Milk and Gold Lip Mask. Despite the Face Milk being infused with jasmine flower and green tea, it doesn’t have a scent which I liked. The formula is milky, hydrating, and absorbed into my skin nicely. The Gold Lip Mask help soften my lips overnight. At first I thought I wouldn’t like the gold shimmer but it’s pretty subtle.

LUX CREME LIPSTICK

This is a gorgeous, warm, peachy, perfect-for-everyday shade named after the film’s titular hero Hua Mulan. The lipstick bullet is angularly shaped like Mulan’s sword. I have several lipsticks by Colourpop and I really like the formula.

I wish I was able to get both of the blushes from the collection as well but I wasn’t fast enough.
