Is It Impossible To Get On The Rise of Resistance at Galaxy’s Edge?

One of the most anticipated rides that opened up recently at Galaxy’s Edge has fans lining up hours before the park opens, requiring lots of planning and hope that your phone data is fast enough to warrant you a boarding group. We tried to get on the ride a couple of weeks ago, and since timing is EVERYTHING, our attempt was not successful. So how are you supposed to get on this ride? After reading many articles and watching countless YouTube videos, it sounds like arriving at the park as early as possible and doing “rope drop” is the key. You also must download the Disneyland app on your phone and have linked all the tickets for your party on the app. Everyone in your party must be scanned into the park prior to boarding group registration in order for you to even access the registration page on the app. Then, it’s all up to your phone data and speedy fingers to land a boarding group.
In our attempt, we were stuck waiting for a tram (to transport us from the parking structure to the front gate) for about 30 minutes, therefore, missing out on the coveted timeframe. I noticed that all boarding groups (backup groups included) were all assigned by 8:13 AM. Keep in mind that the park opened at 8 AM (on the day of our visit). This makes that window really small.
Have you experienced The Rise of the Resistance? What is your best advice or strategy for successfully getting on a boarding group? Let us know in the comments below.
