Amazon Prime Video Experience

Amazon Prime Video is transporting fans into the world of Amazon Originals Series The Boys, The Expanse, and Carnival Row through an immersive activation with live performances and experiences inspired by the shows. The 60,000 square-foot activation is located just across from the San Diego Convention Center and will be open from Thursday July 18th through Sunday, July 21st.
The experience stands tall with a 40-foot tower with giant LED screens playing scenes from The Boys, Carnival Row, and The Expanse. There’ll also be live, show-specific performances taking place atop the multi-level tower.
Inside the activation, fans will be able to collect gold and silver coins that’ll allow them to explore further. Cover up a crime scene of a superhero kidnapping at the Audio Visual show where Hughie works on The Boys or visit a Rocinante spaceship and go on a United Nations peacekeeping mission to a newly colonized planet seen in The Expanse. Discover the Carnival Row universe where humans and exotic creatures consist before entering The Forbidden Lounge, an neo-Victorian hideaway to enjoy a special performance.
Amazon Prime collaborated with LG within the series activations to provide a premiere viewing experience.
For cosplayers, there’ll be a Cosplay Photography Corner within the walls of the Amazon Prime Video Experience, where a lifestyle photographer will be onsite to take professional portraits as digital takeaways.

The Batman Experience

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Batman, DC and AT&T announced The Batman Experience Powered by AT&T, a massive interactive exhibition that includes the largest-ever collection of Batman-related props, costumes, and vehicles. This immersive installation will transport fans into the world of the Dark Knight and will be opened to the public at the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park at 10 AM PT from Thursday July 18th through Sunday July 21st. No Comic Con badge is required to enter.
This custom built installation will include activities on all three level of the museum - a staggering 68,000 square foot space! Some of the elements include:

  • The Dark Knight Dive is the centerpiece attraction of THE BATMAN EXPERIENCE and a one-of-a-kind VR skydiving experience into the Gotham City. By combining a skydive booth with the magic of VR goggles and a helmet in the shape of a Batman cowl, gamers and Batman fans will enjoy a 4D interactive experience. Visitors will virtually fly through Gotham City in pursuit of the Scarecrow, who in attempting to take over the city, unleashes his Fear gas and creates a harrowing journey for fans through Batman’s 80 years of friends and foes.

  • The Batcave gaming lounge will feature all generations of Batman video and arcade games straight from the DC archives - examples include Warner Bros. titles such as Batman The Brave And The Bold (Wii or 3DS), LEGO Batman 3 (PS4), Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4) and Injustice 2 (PS4) - and are all available to play as part of THE BATMAN EXPERIENCE.

  • Hundreds of rare pieces of iconic DC comic book art and large-scale film and television props, including several from Tim Burton’s groundbreaking “Batman” film such as the Batmobile and Batsuit worn by Michael Keaton. The original Batman feature film is celebrating its own 30th anniversary this year. Joining these classic pieces will be a new car created by “Wayne Technology” that will give fans a taste of their future entertainment experiences in autonomous cars with 5G.

  • WHAAM! KABOOM! POW! The Rogue Gallery Rumble is an interactive punching bag experience that uses projection mapping and lights to trigger classic and iconic animations and sounds throughout the space.

  • A special 6-foot Batman Black & White Statue designed by acclaimed artist and writer Todd McFarlane will be unveiled on July 17, marking the 100th statue in the line. The one-of-a-kind life-size version of the 100th statue will be displayed throughout SDCC along with the other 99 Batman Black & White figures from DC Collectibles.

Her Universe Fashion Show

The Her Universe Fashion Show is something I’ve been attending since my first Comic Con back in 2015. The show has only gotten bigger and better. I even had the opportunity to walk in last year’s fashion show! Each year, Her Universe Founder and actress Ashley Eckstein takes the stage in a jaw-dropping dress. Last year, she wore the first ever Funko Pop couture gown, designed by Andrew McClain. Who knows what dress Ashley will don for this year’s show? All I know is this is a must-see event.
Tons of designers from all over the country have entered their unique designs and to see these designs come to live on the runway is such an experience.
The fashion show takes place at the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel, Harbor Ballroom on Thursday, July 18th at 6pm. Admission is free and no SDCC badge is needed to attend.
